Every year I coach scores of people from Chief Executives through to managers and staff who feel uninspired, stuck, undervalued, ineffective, stressed and unhappy in their work. Much of this boils down to how we hire, fire, inspire and guide those in the workforce.
Earlier this week I caught up with my friend and associate, Mirtha Medina, founder of HR Help4Business. Mirtha is an independent Human resources expert with over 20 years working with large corporates and now works independently as a consultant helping large businesses with disputes and best practice – and who helps guide small businesses who may not have a personnel function to get the right policies, procedures and support in place.
In this discussion below we discuss a range of issues from: hiring the right staff;staff induction and buddying; mentoring and development; communication in the workplace; handling disputes and grievances consistently and effectively; conflict and communication; bullying and working relationships; staff development and coaching; and general best practice in the workplace – including advice for managers, staff and HR teams. The interview lasts for 55 minutes but is well worth the watch if these issues affect you.
