Mindful that many of you are starting or building a business / career as your own boss I thought I’d kick of my ‘Inspiring Interviews with Rasheed Ogunlaru’ series with Imtaz Khaliq. Imtaz has created clothes for Hollywood stars, TV personalities and successful business people. I first met Imtaz around 7 or 8 years ago at a event called ‘Mind of an Entrepreneur’ at which I was hosting a session and I believe Imtaz spoke at.

Imtaz was raised in Yorkshire and by the age of 6 has an interest in making clothes. At 18 she set up her first business and soon found herself in London. Her’s is a journey that took her to Saville Row, the Kings Road and in receiving an honour from the Prince of Wales. But that’s not the whole story. Imtaz, like most creatives who’ve followed her dreams has had ups and downs to negotiate. But perhaps what impressed me most is the personal journey of finding self and balance that Imtaz has been on. She also took the step of moving her studio away from the glamour of Saville Row, Bond Street and Kings Road. She shares all this in our interview.
